How many people can I have at my outdoor cinema party?
Our DIY backyard kits are good for a crowd of up to 70. If you've got a suburban backyard you can easily fill it with people for a great movie night. For our event screens, a 4m DIY screen is good for 120 people, a 5m screen 250 people, and our 6m screen 500 people.
How loud is the built-in sound system on the DIY kit?
Really loud! You're highly unlikely to ever need to turn the volume up to full.
Can I fit the equipment in my car?
Our cinema kits can go into the back of a Mini. The popcorn machines fit on a standard car seat. A cinema kit, popcorn machine and 8 beanbags fit easily into a Hyundai Tucson, which is a small-mid sized SUV. If you've got a Landcruiser you can fit around 12 beanbags, more if you strap them to a roof rack. Just make sure you remove any baby seats or fridges, and don't come with a car full of passengers!
Can I set the cinema up under my pergola or inside?
Our cinemas will fit in a reasonably small area, and many people set them up inside or in courtyards. The screen is 2.7m horizontally, 2.2m high including the legs, and you need about 3.5m between the projector and the screen.
I'm not very technical. Will I be able to work it all out?
Our cinemas are very easy DIY set up. The kit is all ready to plug in and play and the screen so simple to put together. It even comes with a photographic step-by-step manual. Same with our popcorn machines.
What happens if it's going to rain or I need to cancel?
If you can't set up in a dry area, we are always happy to postpone or cancel your booking with a refund. Just try and let us know in plenty of time.
How do plug in my laptop?
There is an HDMI input in the back of the projector, which will allows to you connect any device, with the right adapter.
Can I stream my movies?
Yes! You can either log into your favourite streaming service (Netflix, Binge etc) with our smart projector's wifi function, or you can plug in any device (laptop, chromecast) via HDMI. But you you can't connect your phone via USB or stream direct from your phone via bluetooth.
Do the cinemas work during the day?
Outside they only work after sunset. As soon as the sun goes over the horizon, the picture gets better as it gets darker. You won’t see a thing before sunset! But if you have a dark room or inside area with blackout curtains and no direct sunlight that will also do the trick.
If I want to project the movie onto my wall, how big can the picture get?
Massive! The maximum throw size is 6.4m x 3.6m, or 7.3m diagonally.
Do you deliver?
At the moment, for our 3m backyard and 4m kits we only do pick up and drop back in Carine. It's how we keep our prices so awesomely low. our event 5m and 6m screens are delivered, set up and packed down.
